Things From advocates production that is as virtuous as possible, respectful of people and the environment. These values are in line with those of Galerie Pénélope, whose collection of antique jewelry is part of an ethical approach.
And buying vintage jewelry also means buying a unique piece. Géraldine is one of those who believe that vintage jewelry has an extra soul. Géraldine, who draws her inspiration from the aesthetics of everyday life, draws a parallel between choosing a piece of jewelry and experiencing art: in both cases, you go for the emotion it arouses.
While the Parisian admits to having a weakness for round or oval shapes, she has no particular era of preference. On the contrary, Géraldine prefers to mix genres.
Pearls, gold chains, precious stones: her selection for Galerie Pénélope is a collection of essentials.

The pearl
In addition to round shapes, Géraldine also particularly likes pearls which she associates with softness and femininity.
Loyal readers of our newsletteryou know that the "birthstone is also closely linked to purity. And there's a very simple reason for this: pearls are the only gems that can be used without human intervention. While coloured stones require the intervention of a lapidary (or diamond cutter, in the case of the king of gems) to reveal their beauty, pearls are found as they are in nature. Indeed, in ancient times, pearls were thought to result from the fertilization of an oyster by a drop of dew.
Sleepers, daisy and bracelet Art DecoGéraldine chooses three models combining pearls and diamonds. Organic materialAs an organic material, pearls are relatively fragile. In any case, it requires more care than other gems: we refer you to our article on jewelry care to find out more.
All this to say: the alliance of diamond and pearls was very common in the jewelry of the first half of the 20th century. As if the hardness of one (the very name "diamond" comes from the Greek adamas: "indomitable") protected the tenderness of the other.
Statement jewelry
Far be it from us to use Anglicisms, but some words in Shakespeare's language don't have a fair equivalent in Molière's. In English, we use the word "statement" to assert our identity, to take a stand. In English, we speak of " statement " to assert one's identity, to take a stand. And it's not uncommon to come across this notion applied to jewelry, conveying the idea of uncompromising adornment.

And that's exactly what our four strong pieces selected by Géraldine tell us. Vintage jewelry in yellow gold, with clean lines, sometimes enhanced with diamonds. Emblematic of the second half of the 20th centuryThey have not aged a day.
You could call them classics, but that wouldn't be entirely fair. That, in our guest's opinion, is the richness of Galerie Pénélope jewels: singular pieces sourced purely on the spur of the moment.
The precious ones
Colors? Yes, but only the quintessence of gemology. Géraldine's essentials include stones from the very select club of four.
Do you have it? The diamond, sapphire, the ruby and emerald are the only gems that qualify as "precious stones". All the others are referred to as "semi-precious stones" - such as amethyst, aquamarine, citrineetc. - (they used to be called "semi-precious" but the term was abandoned in 2002), or "ornamental stones" (for example turquoiselapis lazuli, etc.).
Géraldine's selection includes our sapphire and diamond daisy, reminiscent of Lady Diana's daisy, which has been brought back into the limelight by the current Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton.
Another sure bet is the octagonal ring Art Deco adorned with diamonds.
As for the emeraldis a Portuguese work from the 1940s.
Finally, keep an eye out for the ruby may well have joined the collections of our inspired and inspiring personality!
