Large antique regional Jeannette cross in 18Kt gold (horse head punch) decorated with faceted arms and a flower decoration on both sides.
French regional work of the second part of the XIXth Century.
The Jeannette crosses or Jeannette crosses were worn all over France.
It seems that from 1783, the Jeannette crosses were worn by all classes, then only by peasant women. After 1872 there was a fashion for the women of the cities to wear them also, then this fashion passed, and again the peasant women were the only ones to wear them...
