Antique 18Kt yellow gold and platinum ring with an opal cabochon weighing approximately 0.80 Ct in the centre, surrounded by rose-cut diamonds.
Total weight of diamonds estimated to be approximately 0.10 Ct.
Early 20th century work, circa 1910, Edwardian.
Gross weight: 2.50g
Height of the motif: 1.50 cm
Finger size: 54 (diameter 17.00 / US 6.50).
Condition: very slight wear to the setting, very slight micro-scratches and oxidation on the gold and platinum parts, and slight abrasion to the opal, see photos.

This stone takes its name from the Greek "opallios" which designates its changes of color. It was also said that the opal was a bearer of hope and a symbol of purity. It had the reputation to increase clairvoyance, to help meditation and reflection, and to improve intuition.
A magic stone that needs to be taken care of, as it is mainly composed of water and is very sensitive to large hygrometric variations. It is therefore important to avoid subjecting it to high temperatures, leaving it near cotton wool (which could dry it out), or leaving it in a liquid for a long time.

All our jewellery is guaranteed for a period of one year from the date on your invoice. We will repair free of charge any manufacturing or other defect, provided that this defect is not related to the use made by the customer, nor to natural wear.

For any purchase, Galerie Pénélope offers you the possibility to change the size of your ring up to 5 sizes bigger or smaller (subject to feasibility).
